How Montana Assistance Program Works

  3. Independent Clinical Evaluation (if needed)
  4. Individualized monitoring agreement
  5. Referral to treatment (if needed)
  6. Recovery and return to safe practice.

Components of a Monitoring Agreement may include:

  • Referral to independent evaluation
  • Referral to individualized external treatment and aftercare
  • Toxicology testing
  • Workplace liaison quarterly reports (usually a supervisor)
  • Therapist and treatment provider reports (quarterly)
  • Monthly check-ins with a case manager
  • Support group attendance
  • Length of participation varies but generally is between 2 and 5 years.

Confidentiality

MAP operates independently from the licensing boards and licensing programs.

A self-referred participant’s identity is kept confidential.

Costs

MAP is funded by licensing fees from the participating boards and programs. Participants are responsible for direct costs which can include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluation and treatment costs
  • Toxicology testing
  • Facilitated support group attendance
